Karen Haugom Olsen is the Musical Director at Nidaros Cathedral and conductor of the Nidaros Cathedral Choir, the Nidaros Cathedral Oratorio Choir and the Trondheim Vocal Ensemble. She has a bachelor’s degree in church music and a master’s degree in conducting from the Norwegian Academy of Music. She also has a master’s degree in organ from Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst, Stuttgart. Karen works with everything from a cappella music to larger works for choir and orchestra. She has a special interest in developing coherent concert concepts, and a burning desire to communicate both classical and contemporary church music in a way that makes it relevant today.
